Multifamily Incentives
With 50% of Californians living in multifamily buildings, there is a great opportunity to bring the benefits of healthier homes and clean energy to these residents. Yet, switching to heat pumps for space and water heating requires adopting new technologies, which may be unfamiliar to property owners, designers, or MEPS. Capital costs and electrical infrastructure needs can create additional challenges.
TECH Clean California offers incentives, technical assistance, and training to address barriers associated with electrification and energy efficiency upgrades in multifamily properties.
As of April 11, 2025, multifamily HEEHRA rebate pre-applications are being processed and funding remains available in all regions for multifamily projects.
As of December 18, 2025, at 5 p.m. PT, the reservation submission window for standard incentives and enhanced support pathway incentives has closed. Lottery selection and reservation review are being completed.
As of July 10, 2025, TECH Clean California multifamily and small multifamily heat pump water heater incentives released prior to this date are fully reserved and are not accepting new reservations.

As of December 18, 2025, at 5 p.m. PT, the reservation submission window has closed for enhanced support pathway incentives for electrification readiness, central heat pump water heater optimization, and small portfolio owners. Lottery selection and reservation review are being completed.
